I'm getting my hair cut today. Well, not exactly cut... more trimmed and reshaped. Like I mentioned a while back, I'm growing it out. Not because I want long and luscious locks, but because with my hair type, it's easily a million times easier to keep it on the longer side. I've had short hair most of my adult life, and man, do I miss it. It just seems to suit my personality a little bit better. When I look at pictures of myself with my longer do, it doesn't even feel like I'm looking at myself. It's almost as if I'm looking at my imaginary twin sister, or something. Isn't that peculiar?
Sadly, given the thickness and texture of my hair, short hair has always required a ton of work and upkeep from me. I hate to sound like that mom, but with Cheech, I really just don't have the time to be styling a killer bob. So for now, I'll keep pinning styles I love onto my "long hair is dead" board, and perhaps once she reaches that special stage where I won't have to be watching her EVERY SECOND to make sure she isn't face planting into furniture, I'll take one of those pictures to my stylist and get this mop off my head for good.
This might be rubbing salt in the wound (sorry), but when I found this cut on your Pinterest, I actually went and got the chop. I had never thought of fine, straight hair as something desirable before (see: my dream hair), but I have to say, I love the new do. So, thanks!
ReplyDeleteI agree, but I'm the opposite. My hair is really fine, so I cut my hair into a pixie when Tay was born. To blow dry my hair now, it takes 3 minutes max. Before, it was a 15 minute process.
ReplyDeleteWhat we do for our bambinos. :)
My husband LOVES my long hair, as in, he thinks it's the sexiest thing ever, but I feel short hair suits my personality more. Long hair does allow me to wear it in different ways - braided, top knot, half-up, half-down like Brigitte Bardot, etc. - and I like having options, but some nights I will have dreams in which I chop off my hair, and it feels so good. Does Joe have any input on the matter? Should I toss my husband's opinion out the window? xo.
ReplyDeleteI go back and forth. I'll usually do long hair for 3 - 4 years and then get sick of it and chop it all off and do a bob until I get tired of the monthly cutting.
ReplyDeleteRight now I'm dying to cut it off but sort of agreed to leave it long for a while. Looking at those short hairstyles is PAINFUL.
I'm like you. I've had short hair most of my life. In the past few years I decided to grow it out. I think the pain of the horrible middle stages of "growing out" hair might prevent me from ever cutting it again. That and the fact that short hair takes serious maintenance. I love a good short cut though... You look great with long hair, C. I can't wait to see the new cut!
ReplyDeleteI'm in the same boat as Nicole. I've always had super short hair and when I met my husband it was medium-lenght and now it's long, really long, past my bra strap long which is so weird to me. I feel a little twinge of heartbreak and envy when I see a pretty girl with a great short cut and one day I'll cut it all off again. There's something so charming and sexy about a girl with short hair who rocks it. He balks at the idea of me cutting my hair, to the point where we had a serious talk about because he was so adamant about me not cutting it. As in, not just unsupportive but hostile to the suggestion. I'm scared to look at this Pinterest page I know I'll just be torturing myself.
ReplyDeleteyep, seems to be the general consensus. i go 4-5 years with long, chop it all off, love it then start to feel to "un-pretty" and grow my hair out to crazy-cat-lady lengths. i think you have insanely luscious bombshell locks already and am looking forward to seeing the "reshaped" Celia.
ReplyDeleteI've done long, short (though never pixie-length, which I'll leave to my twin sister), and medium. The one constant has always been bangs (and now I'm growing them out!). So funny about all the husbands who hate short hair; my husband likes it all, and has a big crush on Michelle Williams that started when she chopped off her hair. Right now I have a shoulder-length bob, and that's actually the lowest-maintenance style for me. My hair is crazy thick and kind of course, so when it's long it take for-ev-er to do (if, ya know, I actually want to look like a sane person). With a bob, I can blowdry and flatiron my hair in less than 10 minutes total, as long as I wait until it's almost dry to start.
ReplyDeleteexcuse me, but ALL THOSE LADIES HAVE BANGS
ReplyDeleteBANGS FTW!
ReplyDeleteI like having long locks - easier to whip up out of my face if need be and requires little effort in the morning. The washing is what drives me nuts and my hair takes forever to dry! Good luck with the hair trim - I'm sure it will be awesome.

I cut my hair once. When I was 15. And it was horrid and I was so traumatized I vowed to never do it again... but when I look at all these cuts, I get tempted and to prevent any rash decisions, I email my mama and she sends me pics of me with that horrid hair cut (she does the same when I say I want bangs.) I wish I could pull off some other style than generic long but I just can't.
