but are they comfortable?

I know that everyone and their mom has posted something on their blog lately about Ancient Greek Sandals, and I get it. They're kind of ridiculously perfect. After two years of constant use (including through a big chunk of my pregnancy), my Saltwaters are on their way out. I'm sad to see them go, but I also might be ready for something new. But what I really want to know is, are the Ancient Greeks COMFORTABLE? Here's the thing, my Saltwaters are hands down the most comfortable sandal I've ever owned. If I'm going to spend the big bucks, I don't want to be kicking myself once I've realized that I could have been much happier spending the little bucks. I mean, if I plan on wearing uncomfortable sandals, I may as well buy a cute pair for pennies on the dollar... there is a ton of that option out there. So what's the verdict? Do you own a pair, or have you tried a pair on recently?

  1. these are pretty badass but somehow, i can't justify spending so much on a pair of damn sandals! it's a shame because i would totally love to wear the beautiful crazy ones with the wings. seriously.

have you seen these though?? http://us.topshop.com/webapp/wcs/stores/servlet/ProductDisplay?catalogId=33060&storeId=13052&productId=4462977&langId=-1&cmpId=&viewAllFlag=false&sort_field=Relevance&beginIndex=1&pageSize=20&categoryId=330539&parent_categoryId=208581&_$ja=tsid:21416|prd:QFGLnEolOWg&siteID=QFGLnEolOWg-hKEH_7_SZuT8D3J34DRi5w

    1. i HAVE seen those, and am extremely tempted. i prefer the nudeness of the ancient greeks, but GEEZ, for under 40 bucks i should probably just go for them.

  2. the topshop sandals have pretty good reviews but they're not going to last much more than a season.

my issue with the AG sandals is the 40 euro delivery fee they charge- ouch!

    1. wait. is that because you're in australia, or do they charge that for any destination? i know there are more local (well, to me) online retailers that carry them.

  3. I am wearing my (2 year old) Topshop sandals at this EXACT moment and can confirm they are most comfy. So much so, I have them in three different colours :)

  4. I have those Top Shop sandals; I bought them for SXSW and so far they have held up beautifully. I love 'em, and they're super comfy. I walked all over Austin, TX in those suckers and not a blister on these feets.

  5. I'm like Ethaney--I just can't spend that much on sandals. Zara has several cute, inexpensive options right now. This pair

seems more nude than the topshop ones. Aldo is also having a big sandal sale right now; I just got a pair for $21. Here's hoping they fit.

  7. Have you considered having a pair of sandals made for you? I don't know how easy it would be to track someone down close by, but I just had a pair of sandals made locally by a shoemaker (http://www.arestlesstransplant.com/dan-freemans-leatherworks/). Custom shoes are insanely expensive, but sandals are much cheaper (mine were $155, and come with a lifetime guarantee to be adjusted and repaired as necessary), and they were made to fit my feet precisely. I love the ancient greek sandals as well, but the truth of the matter is that they're very simple styles that most any shoemaker could duplicate.

  9. Hmm. I've got this page bookmarked and am planning on buying a pair if summer ever comes back to the UK - http://www.greek-sandals.com/

Greek sandals. Made in Greece. Seemingly *exactly* the same as those other Greek sandals made in Greece, but $25.
