Surely, you've caught Jamie's posts of her recent trip to Sayulita. Right? RIGHT?! There are no words to describe how beautiful her photos are and how perfectly they depict a country that I have not visited in almost 10 whole years. A country that I deeply miss.
Growing up, we'd go to Mexico quite often. In my early 20s, I reconnected with my biological Dad's family and I was flying or driving down there all the time. I have vivid memories of mountain ranges overflowing with agave, picturesque little towns with cobblestone streets, gorgeous beaches, and tiny restaurants serving the best Mexican food you'll ever have that sweet, little old women would run out of their homes. Then life just got kind of hectic, as it always does. I was working my ass off as a cook, I wanted to see other places, I got married, moved to a new city, had a Cheech, and just sort of forgot to return. And now it's been SO LONG.
But I'm going back. We booked our vacation earlier in the week, so it's official. I can barely take how excited I am for this trip. Truthfully, the main reason we're going is to just RELAX. Joe and I really need that in our lives right now. But that doesn't mean I'm not thrilled to maybe do some exploring, speak lots of spanish, show Cheech a little bit of her heritage, and eat TACOS. Lots and LOTS of tacos.
