that time we went to big sur and stayed in an airstream

Earlier in the year, Jamie and I were trying to plan a trip to Big Sur with these two rad ladies and their super awesome babies. Schedule conflicts and costs kept getting in the way, and we ultimately decided that is wasn't meant to be this Summer. Then, when we got back from Mexico, Jamie emailed explaining that she would be in Big Sur, anyway, shooting a wedding, and since Oakland isn't really that far away, maybe we could come down and meet her and her sweet little family for a quick getaway. They were planning on staying at this very cool place with her MIL, but when her MIL couldn't make it, the owners VERY GRACIOUSLY offered the extra airstream to us. So... we had the chance to stay a couple nights in one of the most beautiful places in the world in an airstream, AND hang out with old friends we already barely get the chance to see? We were practically rushing to pack our car.

Honestly, guys, although the trip was short, it was one of the best vacations I've been on. We were greeted with an outstanding meal by this extremely talented chef. We got to hang out with this HENRY, who we had last seen just about a year ago. We brought our own food to grill along with tomatoes from our friend, Jen's, garden. We watched kid movies in our trailer when it got dark, and drank bourbon and root beer cocktails while we played poker after Cheech went to bed. It was perfect.

The trailer we stayed in was adorable, and EXTREMELY comfortable. There was a full kitchen and bath, and two beds. Cheech had such a blast. Other than making sure she didn't accidentally fall or step into any poison oak, we pretty much just let her wander where ever she wanted.

We all had breakfast on our last morning before heading back to Oakland. Before getting in our car, we hugged and said our goodbyes, and I could feel my throat closing up because I knew the next time we'd get to see those crazy kids wouldn't be soon enough.
