i'm the driver

In our relationship, I always have been. If we're driving long distances, Joe usually takes over, but I'm the one behind the wheel about 99% of the time. Yesterday, after an exhausting afternoon of triple checking our kitchen measurements for, like, the billionth time, I asked Joe if he'd drive us to the grocery store so that I could take a relaxing break in the passenger seat. On the way there, I realized two things:

1. On the passenger side, you get the BEST view of Cheech singing along to the radio in the side view mirror. Had I known, Joe would be driving way more than he does.

2. He has absolutely no clue how to get to our grocery store.

  1. i used to be the driver too! when my fiance and i went on a cross country road trip, i drove 99% of it. but now, after one horrific car accident, i'm terrified to drive...so he's taken over those duties. sometimes i miss driving though!

  2. It's the opposite in my house. I make Willie drive ever'where. I hate being behind the wheel.

  3. In every other relationship, I have been the driver. Not now. I like to be cared for. It has been a nice change. Plus he knows how to get to the grocery store. :)

  4. Oh lord... we have to split it. Everywhere we go that's not within the metroplex is at LEAST 4 hours away, so usually, one of us will drive down, and the other will drive back. Otherwise, we fight. Because seriously: nobody wants to drive 4 hours in BFE Texas (and not the pretty parts).

  5. i drive in the islands, he drives on trips to the mainland. i'm a terrible highway driver and he sucks in small towns, so after a couple years we acknowledged our shortcomings & have an agreement!
